SolarWinds Grows Global Market Leadership in Network Management Software

Tops rankings during first half of 2017

AUSTIN, Texas – January 30, 2018 – SolarWinds® a leading provider of IT management software, maintained its number-one position in the global market for network management software during the first half of 2017, according to International Data Corporation’s (IDC’s) Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker. This 2017 tracker reported that SolarWinds earned a 23.4 percent market share measured by vendor revenue, up from 21.1 percent a year earlier, outdistancing its nearest competitor by over nine points.

The IDC® tracker data also showed that SolarWinds expanded significantly faster than the overall market growth rate of 5.8 percent in the period from January through June, outperforming all other players ranked in the top five globally.

“Our growing market share and continued leadership is a testament to SolarWinds’ focus on offering simple, powerful, and affordable tools to solve IT professionals’ real network management problems quickly and efficiently,” said Christoph Pfister, executive vice president of products, SolarWinds. “As IT infrastructure evolves, we’ll continue earning customer loyalty by ensuring that our software provides all the functionality needed to manage their infrastructure on-premises, in hybrid environments, and in the cloud.”

“Enterprise business leaders and IT operations staff are increasingly seeking out solutions with visibility into the network services that fuel cloud-based resources,” added Elisabeth Rainge, vice president, IDC. “Solutions from companies such as SolarWinds that offer an application-centric view of network infrastructure are growing in popularity with the increase of multi-cloud and digital initiatives by enterprises and their partners.”

Over 250,000 customers worldwide use SolarWinds’ broad portfolio of network management software, which enables IT professionals to identify and address a complete range of issues. Innovations such as the NetPath feature, which provides a “hop-by-hop” analysis of network performance, and the PerfStack platform, which enables cross-stack data correlation, combine to allow broad and powerful IT problem-solving capabilities.

SolarWinds develops its network management software upon the Orion® Platform, which is highly scalable and unifies data from multiple parts of the stack into an application-centric view. This powerful platform gives IT departments the flexibility to add modules as their needs grow, deepening visibility into their environments. It can monitor, visualize, and analyze the performance of networks, applications, systems, storage, and databases.

Network Performance Monitor v12.2

We are very pleased to announce the release of SolarWinds® Network Insight for Cisco® Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), now available in the latest versions of NPM, NCM, NTA, and UDT.

This innovation is important because in modern hybrid IT environments, firewalls provide critical connectivity to cloud-based assets. Cisco ASAs are the most popular, cutting-edge firewalls on the market. However, standard monitoring tools do not provide the needed visibility into key firewall functions such as VPN tunnel connectivity and failover status and availability.

This latest Network Insight fills a huge gap in how our end users manage their hybrid IT environments. In addition to providing in-depth analyses that go far beyond basic hardware health and statistics, it also presents data in a simplified functional model so that expert-level insights on ASA performance can be understood by non-expert users. We’re fulfilling our promise to deliver affordable and easy-to-use products that provide unmatched functionality.

Network Insight for ASA provides network administrators and engineers with:
• Enhanced visibility into:

     o VPN tunnel visibility (LAN-to-LAN)
o High availability and failover status
     o Hardware status
o Interface monitoring with critical configuration data, including security level
     o Connection count

• ACL monitoring:

o Filter, search, and view ACLs with the firewall rule browser
o Show relationships with ACLs, context, and objects
o Snapshot, version, compare, and back up ACL configs
o Analyze ACL configs and highlight shadowed, redundant, and unused rules

Combining this level of total visibility into a comprehensive hybrid IT monitoring system is an industry first. To support this exciting launch, please find attached visuals and social posts that you can use on your social media platforms.

SolarWinds Unveils the Next Generation of IT Troubleshooting at Cisco Live EMEA 2017

The PerfStack dashboard, the latest innovation from the global market leader in network management software, enables IT administrators to identify, isolate, and troubleshoot performance problems in ways never before possible

CORK, Ireland, Feb. 19, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SolarWinds, a leading provider of powerful and affordable IT management software, today at Cisco Live® EMEA 2017 unveiled its PerfStackdashboard, an entirely new way of visualising and correlating IT monitoring data to improve troubleshooting of performance issues across the IT environment, from infrastructure to applications. A significant update to the SolarWinds® Orion® platform, PerfStack is a new, highly customisable yet simple-to-build dashboard. It allows IT administrators to selectively drag and drop critical real-time and historical metrics from SolarWinds Orion platform-based products into a single pane to visualise the relationship between suspect elements. This innovative visualisation enables them to identify, isolate, and troubleshoot performance problems in ways never before possible.

“With hybrid IT, software-defined networking, hyperconvergence, and any number of other disruptive trends impacting today’s IT environments, complex, multi-faceted performance issues that often transcend functional silos are more common than ever,” said Christoph Pfister, executive vice president, products, SolarWinds. “In turn, troubleshooting to resolve these problems is growing increasingly difficult. Enter PerfStack. We’re excited to show Cisco Live attendees how PerfStack, along with our complete portfolio of market-leading products, can help them break down the walls between functional roles, eliminate finger pointing, and solve performance problems faster. It is the next generation of IT troubleshooting.”

PerfStack: The Next Generation of IT Troubleshooting

The PerfStack dashboard empowers IT administrators to simply yet dynamically combine time series and relationship data from many different sources—such as a switch, router, virtual machine, host, application, LUN, storage array, or web transaction—into a single custom pane. This includes disparate data. For example, PerfStack enables administrators to combine network latency and bandwidth data from SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor with LUN IOPS data from SolarWinds Storage Resource Monitor into a single chart to troubleshoot iSCSI performance issues.

With the PerfStack dashboard, administrators are also able to better collaborate with others by easily sharing the custom PerfStack charts they have created. This powerful feature helps break down the functional silos within their IT organisations and solve performance problems faster.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 1:40 p.m. GMT+1, Patrick Hubbard, Head Geek, SolarWinds, will present, “The Key to Network Management in a Hybrid IT World,” as part of the Cisco Live EMEA 2017 Partner Theater. During the talk, Hubbard will discuss the benefit of tools such as PerfStack, among others, in solving the challenges of modern network management. Specifically, Hubbard will address the following:

“As applications become increasingly distributed in hybrid IT environments, IT and DevOps professionals face the challenge of ensuring performance regardless of deployment topology. Moreover, applications are rapidly evolving and the network behaviours of yesterday don’t accurately forecast the traffic patterns for tomorrow. IT management software must give additional visibility into the entirety of hybrid IT deployments to deliver optimal experience for end-users. New tools based on automated context mapping now allow administrators to make optimal decisions to changing physical or virtual network flows faster than ever before. Real-time, end-to-end maps, continuous analysis, automated context discovery, and composite metric views are finally beginning to address the challenge of Hybrid IT.”
